STORAGE POLICY

At our studio, we provide storage options for members to store their work and tools. It is important to note the following policies regarding storage:

  1. Time Limits: Bisqueware left sitting on the kiln shelves for over 60 days and glazeware not picked up after 60 days of firing may be subject to removal. Pieces placed in the bin outside the front door have 60 days to be picked up before they will be removed.

  2. Disposal or Sale: The studio reserves the right to sell or discard any bisqueware or glazeware that has exceeded the designated time limits mentioned above. Greenware left on studio class shelves will be reclaimed if bone dry and unfinished.

  3. Membership Shelves: Membership shelves can be purchased for $10 per month. Access to these shelves is exclusive to studio members or enrolled students.

  4. Unpaid shelves: Shelves that remain unpaid will be cleaned off, and pieces or tools stored on these shelves are subject to be reclaimed, donated, or discarded. To retain ownership of your work and avoid any inconvenience, please ensure timely payment for shelf usage.

  5. Shelf Maintenance: Members may maintain their shelf during an off period of less than 90 days if they continue to pay for the shelf.

  6. Lapsed Membership: If a member fails to reinstate their studio membership after 90 days, they will lose their shelf privileges. In such cases, they must clean off their shelf until they become a member again.

Please be mindful of these storage policies to ensure smooth operations and availability of storage space for all our members. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to contact our studio staff.

CLASS POLICY

  1. Shelf Usage: Any pieces left on the shelf after the class end date will be recycled to make room for the next class starting within the same weekly timeframe.

  2. Dried Out Pieces: Pieces that have dried out and are not finished will be reclaimed due to the inability to finish a fully bone dry piece.

  3. Make-Up Arrangements: Special arrangements for make-up classes can be discussed with the instructor, but make-ups should be completed within 2 weeks of the course end date. Requested make-up times more than 2 weeks after the end of the course fall outside the designated timeframe for class make-ups. Participants are encouraged to schedule make-up sessions promptly.

  4. Instructor Make-Ups: Instructors are not required to make up missed classes, especially for no-call, no-show situations. However, instructors reserve the right to make the call regarding make-up classes.

  5. Clean-Up: Clean up your workspace after each class. Return tools and materials to their designated places.

  6. Safety First: Follow all safety guidelines provided by the instructor. If you are unsure about any safety procedures, ask for clarification.

  7. Feedback and Questions: Feel free to ask questions and provide constructive feedback. This enhances the learning experience for everyone.

  8. Attendance: Regular attendance is expected for all classes. If you are unable to attend, please notify the instructor in advance. No Call No Shows are not subject to receiving special situational treatment, and refunds are not possible. It is essential for participants to adhere to class schedules and communicate any concerns or scheduling conflicts promptly.

  9. Extenuating circumstances will be considered for all situations where students communicate in a timely manner. In the event of unforeseen challenges or emergencies, please promptly notify the instructor. The studio values clear communication and will work to accommodate genuine extenuating circumstances to the best extent possible.

BREAKAGE & LIABILITY POLICY

  1. It is important for students to acknowledge that ceramic pieces are susceptible to breakage or damage during the firing or handling process. Any breakage or damage that occurs is not the fault or responsibility of the Studio.

  2. While the Studio will exercise due care in handling and firing student pieces, it cannot guarantee the outcome or prevent breakage. Ceramics is an art form with inherent risks, and factors such as clay composition, glaze application, and kiln firing can contribute to variations and potential breakage.

  3. In the event of breakage or sharp pieces, the Studio cannot be held liable for any injuries that may occur. It is the responsibility of the students to exercise care and attention when handling broken or sharp pieces and to promptly clean up any debris to maintain a safe working environment.

Please understand and accept these considerations when working with ceramics at our studio. By doing so, you can fully embrace the creative process while recognizing the nature of the medium. Please adhere to the safety guidelines and report any concerns or incidents to the Studio staff immediately. Your safety is our priority, and we are here to ensure a safe and enjoyable creative experience for everyone. Should you have any questions or concerns, our staff is available to provide guidance and support.

  2. Training and Education: Proper training and education on studio equipment, tools, and materials will be provided to all members and students. It is important to familiarize oneself with the safe and correct use of equipment and materials before engaging in any studio activities.

  3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): The use of appropriate personal protective equipment, such as goggles, gloves, and aprons, is mandatory when working with ceramics. PPE helps mitigate potential hazards and protects against injuries.

  5. Equipment and Machinery: Studio equipment and machinery should only be operated by trained individuals who have received proper instruction. Unauthorized adjustments, repairs, or modifications to equipment are strictly prohibited.

  6. Fire Safety: Fire safety measures must be followed at all times. This includes maintaining clear access to fire extinguishers, adhering to kiln firing protocols, and keeping flammable materials away from heat sources.

  7. Cleanliness and Organization: A clean and organized studio environment promotes safety. Members and students are responsible for maintaining cleanliness, promptly cleaning up spills, and keeping work areas and walkways clear of clutter.

  8. Reporting Safety Concerns: Any safety concerns, accidents, or near-miss incidents should be immediately reported to the studio staff. This allows for prompt resolution and helps improve safety measures.

  9. Compliance with Regulations: The studio operates in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety and occupational health. All members and students are expected to comply with these regulations while using studio facilities.
